'Canes send Kyle Wood to Detroit for defenseman Kaski

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired defenseman Oliwer Kaski from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defenseman Kyle Wood.
Kaski, 24, has tallied 2 goals and 3 assists in 19 AHL games with Grand Rapids this season.
The Pori, Finland, native represented his home country at the 2019 IIHF World Championship, recording two assists in 10 games and winning a gold medal.
Kaski skated in 144 Liiga games from 2016-19 with HIFK and Pelicans (Finland). The 6'3", 187-pound blueliner registered 19 goals and 32 assists in 59 games with Pelicans last season, leading all Liiga defensemen in goals and points.
Wood, 23, an Ontario, Canada native, is in his fourth professional season with the Charlotte Checkers and has tallied 3 goals and 2 assists in 14 games. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound blueliner has totaled 201 games in the American Hockey League since 2015-16, totaling 26 goals and 76 assists.
He was drafted by Colorado in the third round, 84th overall, of the 2014 NHL Draft.
