Upcoming Wake Forest Renaissance Centre events

The flix4kidz featured film will be “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” (PG)

The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts will host a “Back to the ‘50s Sock Hop” on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 7-9 p.m.

Put on your blue suede shoes or pink poodle skirt and get ready to “rock around the clock.” Dance the night away to your favorite 50's tunes spun by DJ Randy "Sting" of 1st Choice Customized DJ Services. Emcee and special music by Roseann McFadden.

Ice cream floats and other special treats will be available for purchase at the concession stand, and the bar will also be open for wine, beer and soft drink purchases.

Advance tickets are $12 plus tax and $15 plus tax at the door.

Free monthly movie showings for children ages 10 and under and adults ages 50 and older continues on Monday, Jan. 13.

 The Renaissance Centre will host “flix4kidz” at 10:30 a.m., followed by “Free at 3” at 3 p.m.

The flix4kidz featured film will be “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” (PG), while the Free at 3 movie will be “Downtown Abbey” (PG).

Concessions, including popcorn and soft drinks, will be available for purchase during both events.

Featuring only G or PG-rated children’s and family films, “flix4kidz” offers free family-friendly movie showings at 10:30 a.m. typically on the second Monday morning of each month.

Designed for adults ages 50 and over, “Free at 3” features a variety of film favorites and genres, including art and family films, as well as comedies, dramas, thrillers and more – often with a seasonal or historical theme. Free at 3 is also typically offered on the second Monday of each month.

The Renaissance Centre now offers open captioning (OC) during “Free at 3” movie screenings. Subtitles are shown directly on the screen. In addition, Assistive Listening Devices are also available upon request.
